I first heard about Carnitas El Momo from watching the episode of Street Food Icons called The Taco Master of East LA. I've longed for a chance to eat at Carnitas El Momo for a long time and I finally had an opportunity to try it. The tacos here are not something I normally wouldn't order as the meat comes from the shoulder, belly and skin. You can get Carne (Shoulder), Buche (Belly) and Cuero (Skin). They offer Tacos, Mulitas, Quesadillas, Tortas and Queso Tacos. You can pay via Cash or Zelle. These are some the best Tacos in LA. There's a lot of competition for tacos in Tacos in LA, but in my humble opinion this place serves up some really good tacos. The meat is so flavorful and juicy. They give you lot of meat in each taco. They are generous portions. You need that especially with rising food costs. Respect! Tacos cost $4 each. I order 2 of each as I wanted to bring home some for my family to try. My wife is not a big fan of tacos, but she really liked the tacos from Carnitas El Momo. It's really inspiring to see a family business continued by the children. I love the story. All walks of life come here for the Tacos. When you make a good product, people will come. Carnitas El Momo makes really some of the best tacos out there.

Did a self guided taco tour for my last full day in California. It definitely did not disappoint since I am from the East coast where the reputation of taco food trucks is far inferior. The total time for my self guided taco tour was 2.5 hours (started at 12PM on a Tuesday and ended at 2:30. There was a minimal wait due to the time so the total tour may vary depending on the day.) Feel free to check out my profile for other taco truck recommendations! The tacos are on the bigger end so definitely don't over order if you plan on visiting other food trucks or have a full day ahead of you. No parking here but everyone was double parked on the street. Pork Mix Taco ***FAVORITE****: pork belly, pork shoulder and pork skin): perfect combination of meatiness, gelatinous and fattiness. Even better with a pickled jalapeño to chase it down Pork Skin Tacos: very gelatinous. Would not recommend to eaters who rely heavily on texture Pork Belly Tacos: very flavorful. Not too fatty as it was rendered out but definitely not too fulfilling by itself

I saw Carnitas El Momo on Netflix's Street Food and with an upcoming trip to SoCal, I knew I had to come check it out! It's all street parking but found a spot about half a block down across the street. I know this place is a frequent of many construction workers in the area, I see all their trucks lined up and double parked behind the food truck. Upon arriving, you can check out the menu on the white boards leaning against the truck on the floor. We opted for the Carne (shoulder) tacos. They are $4 each so I ordered 4 and I didn't realized how much meat they pack into it otherwise 2 would've been sufficient for my hubby and I. Tons of meat, I tell ya! The meat itself didn't have too much flavor but you can dress it up. Condiments are provided including hot sauce, onions and limes. It instantly becomes bomb. I love that the meat is not fatty, soft and falls apart. Ordering was quick and easy and they call out your number for pick up. Must try in you're in the LA area!

I bought tacos. The carnitas are so good, tortillas were fresh and delicious, loved the pickled jalapeño and salsa too. Just overall so delicious and fresh. Tasted like it was made with love.

There are many street food vendors in LA, but Carnitas El Momo is in a league of it's own. They serve only pork - carnitas, buche (stomach), and cuero (pork skin). It's the easy they cook it though, that's outstanding. The carnitas is soft and moist, the buche savory and juicy, and the cuero gelatinously chewy and sticky. They're also extremely generous with the portion size. On top of that, they're also friendly and courteous. You can order meat by the # for $20/lb. It's a great deal. Will surely be back many times for more. Nom nom nom nom nom! Can't write more, gotta eat!

Omg!!!!! Thank you Jinoe for letting me know about this spot. We was leaving the fast and furious house and this place is just down the freeway. Parking was easy, the service was amazing greeted with tacos that knocked us off our feet!!! We bought 12 tacos 4 carnitas 4 mixed 2 carnitas fried chesse and two mix fried chesse tacos and let me tell you those two tacos was the riches I ever had in my life, the pork was sticker and juicer than the chesse, I don't think you hear me, more than the cheese, thank the men and women that work here! We had a great time enjoying your food

I've been hearing about this place for quite some time and with it being so close, it just had to be done. I went on a weekday around 1 p.m. because I figured parking would be easier on a weekday. Yeah, no. There was no parking but after asking someone at the stand, I was told just to double park it. I guess that's how it's done, so I followed suit. For those who don't know, this joint is run out of a person's home. It's been around for quite some time so don't worry re it being run out of someone's house. I'm still standing to write this, right? So as stated above, this was my first visit. I ordered three carnitas tacos. Another Yelper posted that he was a fat mofo and he could only clear two tacos. I'm not a fat mofo but I eat like one so I figured I would get three so I could have one leftover for tomorrow. I was only able to clear one lol. It is true, they are generous with the meats, which is why each taco is $4. Now, even though I ordered carnitas, I was given mixto tacos, which is the most popular option. I had been given a sample while waiting for my order and it was good even though I'm not a fan of cuero due to the texture. No biggie re my order, I just picked out the bigger pieces of cuero and gave it to the stray cats that visit me - sharing Momos is caring. If you look at the menu, there's no "carnitas" taco. So, the girl who took my order gave me what was most popular. I just went with it, it was all delish. Next time I know to ask to have the cuero omitted. If you've seen any videos regarding this joint and their tacos, you know that the tacos are meant to be eaten with pickled jalapeños. You are given salsa and cilantro and onions just in case you want to go that route. I had my one taco just as I was supposed to and that's all it needed. Sorry, I can't speak for how the sauce I was given tastes as it was perfect just with the jalapeño. My only complaint is that I needed more than one jalapeño for three tacos. My tastebuds are happy to have joined all others that have ever experienced this place and I will definitely be back. Ya know it, a very yummy in my tummy rating. Note that these tacos are messy af so you have been forewarned if you're going to eat in the car (there's no real place to have them there). Also, they close every day at 4:30 p.m. so plan accordingly to get your grub on. Lastly, bring cash.
